Here are reviews of the stuff I (and my wife) have used over the years.
What we use to workout has evolved over time as we have evolved.
I tend to workout most at home as this is convenient for me. I am also pressed for time like everyone else, so I tend to workout using high-intensity interval training and circuit training, which is more time efficient.
Most recently I’ve started using Dailyburn as well.
You can check out the science of HIIT in my article on the subject.
I started out using P90X, but found it a bit too intense for a beginner and even injured myself. So, I backed off and after recovering started CT-50.
I found it to be a great progressive beginner program.
Since, than I have gone on to P90X3, which is a shorter version of the original P90X. This is my favorite overal program to date.
Both CT-50 and P90X3 are essentially HIIT or circuit training programs.
I also will use the 7 Minute Workout Challenge when I am traveling. It’s always available as an app on my iPhone and requires nothing but myself and a chair. Great to take on the road.
I’ve progressed to Dailyburn, which is an entirely online streaming workout program. There is a ton of variety and for a low subscription price of just $12.95 per month you get access to workouts from Yoga and Pilates to Metabolic conditioning, weight lifting and kettlebells. This seems to be a great value for the money. I’ve tried three of their workout programs and am so far impressed. They also have a great beginner program as well.
I’ve tried out celebrity trainer’s Dailyburn program Black Fire and have reviewed it here in more depth.
My wife is a dancer and loved Shaun T’s Focus T25. This was perfect for her as a busy mother of 3 and an avid AT-HOME workout fan. She reviewed the program here.
If your looking for something on the go, I use the 7 Minute Workout Challenge. 7MWC is an app on my iPhone that has a 7 minute full body circuit. So, occasionally when I am up at the cabin and have jumked-out on too many S’mores I’ll break out the app to get in a quick workout.
